T&T Clark Handbook of Sexualities in the Bible and its Reception
Co-edited by Christopher Greenough & Caroline Blyth (T&T Clark, 2026)
Honorary Research Associate Dr Caroline Blyth has co‑edited the newly released T&T Clark Handbook of Sexualities in the Bible and its Reception, a major international volume bringing together leading scholars to explore one of the most pressing and contested areas in contemporary theological research. Her own contribution to the collection is entitled “She’s a Knockout: Sexuality, Violence and Piety in the Book of Judith”.
The handbook also features a contribution from Associate Professor Mark Jennings, whose chapter is entitled “Reading Scripture as a Discursive Fight to the Death: The Bible and the Battle over the Truth of Sex and Sexuality”.
This significant volume highlights the depth of research expertise within the Wollaston community and its ongoing engagement with critical conversations at the intersection of biblical studies, theology, and contemporary culture. In his endorsement of the volume, Associate Professor Robert Myles opines: “This brilliant, timely handbook shows how and why the Bible is often at the heart of modern identity debates about sex and sexuality. With deft historical and textual sleuthing, it teases out a rich diversity of biblical sexualities, exposes the readings and misreadings that have clung to them, and invites readers to handle biblical receptions with both care and a wink.”
