Opportunities in Chaplaincy for the ordained and lay person continue to grow as increasingly organisations recognise the distinct skills and services such a ministry can provide and because many people have no relationship with a local worshipping community. In the Diocese of Perth, Chaplains minister in many contexts:
Wollaston Theological College has a long-standing tradition of providing education and training to chaplains, spiritual carers and ministers. In keeping with that tradition, and following extensive consultation with partners, in 2025 WTC piloted a University of Divinity Graduate Certificate in Divinity, designed specifically for the needs of chaplains working in the superdiverse minerals and resources sector.
The Graduate Certificate in Divinity for minerals and resources chaplaincy has the following structure:
Units |
Superdiversity and Secularism: Religious and CALD Literacy is a new WTC unit, designed specifically for leaders and spiritual carers working in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD), as well as religiously diverse, workplaces. It is offered as an intensive, ideal for full time professionals.
Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) provides critical care instruction and reflection for spiritual care and ministering to psycho-social needs. CPE is the equivalent of two units, and can be taken through UD accredited providers.
