In November and December, two of our faculty members presented their research at conferences in Australia and the USA.
From 22-25 November 2025, Dr Meg Warner travelled to the Society of Biblical Literature’s Annual Meeting in Boston, USA, where she presented a paper entitled “Genesis as Torah: Making a Case” and chaired a session of the Genesis Section discussing Genesis and Judges as Origin Stories.
In November and early December 2025, Assoc Prof Mark Jennings travelled to Naarm (Melbourne) to participate in two conferences: first, the annual conference of The Australian Sociological Association (TASA) held at the University of Melbourne from 24—27 November, and subsequently, the Australian Association for the Study of Religion (AASR) conference at Federation University, Ballarat, from 4—5 December 2025. At TASA 2025, Mark co-presented with Dr Raisa Akifeva (Edith Cowan University and Acknowledge Education) “Unbelonging: When Community is not what it seems”. At the AASR conference, Mark co-convened a panel entitled “Christianity in Australia: A new minority?” As part of the panel, Mark also presented a paper based on his research into LGBTQ+ experiences of Christianity and the ongoing process of legislating to ban Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Efforts (SOGICE).
Both Meg and Mark’s research activities were funded by competitive grants awarded by the University of Divinity.
