Faculty members present research at major international biblical studies conferences in Indonesia, Australia, and the United States

From 23–28 June 2026, Associate Professor Robert Myles participated in the bi‑annual conference of the Society of Asian Biblical Studies, held this year in Jakarta, Indonesia. The conference theme, Bible, Labour, and Migration, brought together scholars from across the region. Assoc Prof Myles presented new research in a paper titled “Urbanisation and Upheaval in the Fishing Economy at the Time of Jesus.”

Assoc Prof Myles and Dr Megan Warner will next attend the International Meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature, taking place from 5–9 July 2026 in Adelaide. Dr Warner will deliver a paper titled “Genesis as Law” in a session focused on Pentateuchal Law and Economics.

In November, Dr Warner will travel to Denver, Colorado, to participate in the Annual Meeting of the Society of Biblical Literature. Her paper will explore connections between the Abraham and Jacob narratives in the book of Genesis. This trip is supported by a competitive research grant awarded by the University of Divinity.
