Commencement Service and Opening of The Wollaston Library

The Wollaston Library is now officially open!

More than seventy people gathered on Sunday 23 February to mark the commencement of the academic year, with a Eucharist celebrated by the Archbishop in the College Chapel. The Revd Dr John Deane, CEO of the Anglican Board of Mission was the preacher.

On her way out of the Chapel, the Archbishop paused to bless the college’s new Purple Bench, before leading the gathered throng to the new library.

Following speeches by College Principal, Dr Meg Warner and Rev Ian Tozer, Moderator of the Uniting Church in Western Australia, the Archbishop blessed and opened the new library. Following the formalities, those gathered were invited to bring their drinks and canapes as they explored the new library.

It was a joyful evening, full of the sense of what the Spirit is doing at Wollaston. The College Principal said, “The Wollaston Library is set to become the beating heart of this College, a focus of scholarship and reflection for clergy and laity around the diocese, and a resource and place of welcome for the clergy and people of our sister denominations and faiths.”

Membership of the library is now open, along with membership of ‘The Friends of the Wollaston Library’. The library is open for visitors between 8 am and 4 pm, Monday to Friday. Do come and see our marvellous new library, meet College Librarian Justine Skeet, explore the collection, enjoy our free parking and have a cup of coffee in the courtyard. We look forward to seeing you.
