About Wollaston Theological College

Wollaston Theological College is a renowned centre for theological education and spiritual formation in Western Australia. The College is named after John Ramsden Wollaston, first Archdeacon of Perth, whose festival is observed by the Anglican Church of Australia on 18 September each year.

History

Established in 1957 as the training centre for the Anglican Diocese of Perth, Wollaston Theological College has always been a place where faith and scholarship converge, shaping leaders who serve with wisdom, compassion, and courage.

Wollaston Theological College shaped generations of clergy and lay leaders who have gone on to serve across Australia and internationally.

Its alums have held influential roles as:

  • Bishops and ordained ministers in the Anglican Church of Australia.
  • Educators and chaplains in Anglican schools, hospitals, and community organisations.
  • Theological scholars and authors who enrich ecumenical dialogue and elevate ethical discourse.

These individuals have helped expand the Anglican Church’s presence, foster interfaith collaboration, and lead community transformation efforts in both urban and remote areas.

From its early days as a residential college to its current partnership with the University of Divinity, Wollaston Theological College has continually evolved to meet the needs of contemporary ministry and scholarship. Today, it offers accredited degrees, diplomas, and certificates in theology, chaplaincy, and ministry, supported by a vibrant academic and spiritual community.
